You will have to set the console to the type of machine you have, that's done in engineering mode. Hold down Plus and minus resistance down simultaneously for 5 seconds and set to bike or elliptical.

Plug-and-play simplicity at its finest. I didn't even need to calibrate the speed on it like I did with my old treadmill. Hope I never have to replace it again though; this was about double what I wanted to pay for it.
